Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan yet again made an appeal to the Goods and Services Tax Council and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to bring petroleum products within the ambit of GST.
“Given the complexity of the petroleum sector and the revenue dependence of State governments in this sector, petroleum products have been kept outside the ambit of the GST regime,” Mr. Pradhan said while speaking at the India Energy Forum by CERAWeek. “It has been two years since the historic tax reform GST was implemented. There has been continuous demand from the petroleum industry for inclusion of petroleum products under the GST regime,” he added.
