Sensex sheds 38 points in early trade

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was on Monday trading at 38.08 points or 0.14 per cent down during the morning session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 16.30 points or 0.20 per cent down at 7,966.60 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,498.67 points, was trading at 26,387.22 points (at 9.20 a.m.) in the early session, down 38.08 points or 0.14 per cent from the previous day’s close at 26,425.30 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 26,498.67 points and a low of 26,307.84 points in the trade so far.

Heavy selling pressure was seen in IT, consumer durables and technology, media and entertainment (TECK) sectors, while god buying was seen in capital goods sector.
