CPCL profit rises almost fivefold

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL) has reported a 365% increase in its standalone net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2018 to ₹156.02 crore from ₹33.49 crore registered in the year-earlier period on higher revenue.

During the period under review, the company posted a total income of ₹12,355.76 crore against ₹9,649.42 crore.

Other expenditure for the quarter ended included exchange loss of ₹170.61 crore against an exchange gain of ₹3.55 crore, included in other income, in the year-earlier period, the company said.

On Monday, the shares of the firm gained ₹16.40 to close at ₹315.55 on the BSE.
