As part of its expansion plan, Hitech Diagnostics Centre proposes to open 40 new collections centres in Chennai during the current fiscal, said chairperson Ameera Shah.

“We acquired the city-based firm in October 2021. Right now, we have 43 collections centres in Chennai and this will be increased to 83 by the year end,” said Ms. Shah.

“Hitech has nine labs in Chennai. The new collection centres will be our own and we want to grow organically. We are not going in for any more acquisitions,” she said.

Informing that the expansion plans entailed a total investment of about ₹10 crore, she said that the cost would be met through internal accruals.

Last year, Metropolis Healthcare acquired city-based Hitech Diagnostic Centre for ₹511 crore.

Ms. Shah also said that to strengthen Hitech’s presence in Tamil Nadu, plans were on to increase the number of collection centres from 27 to 77 and labs from eight to 23 in two to three years. Currently, Hitech is present in eight cities and this would be increased to 23 cities to strengthen its presence in tier-II and III cities.

Asked about the performance of Hitech, she said it was too early to comment as it was acquired only in October last.

Hitech is currently offering 500 types of tests, she said and added that their vision was to introduce more tests and deliver reports faster.

Talking about automation, she said that the digital-first experience would enable customers to track the results on the phone.
