Marico to increase reach in Africa, Asia

Fast moving consumer goods company Marico is looking to growth through organic and inorganic routes and is also planning to increase its reach in Africa and Asia, Chairman and Managing Director Harsh Mariwala said.

The company was also planning to launch some new products in the wellness segment, he said.

Speaking to reporters he said that the company was looking at increasing its international business from Rs.700 crore now to about Rs.1,000 crore within the next two years.

“Now international business contributes 25 per cent of the turnover,” he said.

Mr. Mariwala, who is also the president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, is here for the FICCI national executive meet on Saturday.

Marico owns well-known brands such as Parachute, Revive, Mediker, Saffola, Nihar and the Kaya range of wellness goods. Its overseas units were located in Egypt, South Africa, Vietnam and Bangladesh, Mr. Mariwala said.

Second unit

It is planning a second unit in Bangladesh at an investment of around Rs.40 crore.
