Japan's computer peripherals manufacturer Elecom Co. Ltd. on Wednesday launched its India subsidiary, Elecom India Private Limited, bringing its innovative products such as laser mouse, keyboards, headphones, web cameras, portable mobile battery chargers, speakers and cables in the country.

“Elecom India will target $3 million revenue in the first year…we hope to touch $30 million in the next five years. We will invest 3-4 per cent of our revenues in expanding our marketing and distribution network,” Elecom Founder and President Junji Hada told journalists here.

About the Indian market, he said “We are confident that our range of premium and uniquely-designed products, with the latest cutting-edge technology, will appeal to the upwardly mobile and technology-savvy Indian consumer.” The Osaka-based firm also introduced ‘baby beans', world's smallest wireless laser mouse that uses 2.4 GHz wireless communication technology and comes built with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be charged via an in-built micro USB port.

With a full charge, it can operate for around three weeks. Mr. Hada said it would soon set up a software development centre to develop India-specific applications for various mobile operating systems and their products.

To tap the market in an aggressive manner, the company is setting up 10 exclusive showrooms.
