Yes Bank, the new-age private sector bank, is seeking to mark a major presence in the North East where it already has a network in five of the seven States.
The bank formally inaugurated its North East India and West Bengal banking operations by adding 15 branches (10 operational branches and 5 branches opening shortly).
The inauguration was done on Saturday by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee from Yes Bank's main branch here. The aim is to further focus on the growing business and financial opportunities in this key region.The bank also announced its plans to launch 100 more branches within a year.
Yes Bank at present has a network of 153 branches in 127 cities with a growing presence in the Eastern and Northeast region. It has three branches in West Bengal, including one in Kolkata. It plans to ramp up operations in the State by taking the total number of branches to six by the end of the current fiscal year, which will also include a new branch in Kolkata. The bank now has seven branches in the Northeastern region, in Guwahati, Itanagar, Silchar, Shillong, Aizwal, Gangtok and Agartala. Commenting on the future plans, Rana Kapoor, Founder/Managing Director and CEO, said the bank was fully committed to strengthening the financial infrastructure in the strategic east and northeast region, by establishing an extensive and robust platform through cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art infrastructure in branches, and comprehensive financial solutions, specifically catering to the requirements of this growing region.
