Mahindra Satyam will take another two years to come out with clean records and other achievements, said CEO of Mahindra Satyam C.P. Gurnanai, (previously Satyam Computers Services Limited) here on Tuesday.

“It is only one year since we took over. Another two years to be completed to level out some of the score cards,” Mr. Gurnani said when asked about the present head count, margins and profitability.

He said when they took over the company on the same date last year, they presented a three-year programme of transformation of Satyam Computers.

“The company had retained 100 per cent of its customers in the past one year. As a part of the restructuring process, the 14 management layers in the company have now been reduced to seven,” he told mediapersons on the sidelines of the commencement of Mahindra Satyam IT SEZ, which was inaugurated by the Union Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

Replying to a query on the submission of restatement of Satyam Computers accounts, Salman Khurshid said there are technical matters that have to be taken in to account.

“Aspects related to recovery and revival of Satyam is in the process. We will constructively and creatively come out of the problems,” Mr. Khurshid told mediapersons.

He said the Ministry has been trying to ensure that things are moving in the right direction as it involves different wings of the government that should work together.

Chairman, Mahindra Satyam, Vineet Nayer said they will stick to the June 30-deadline set by the Company Law Board to submit the restated accounts.

Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra group, Anand Mahindra said Mahindra Satyam can be in the No.1 position if the support and cooperation of employees continues in the same way.

“Nobody is going to dispute the fact that why we should not be able to become number one. First, we started with a handicap, we came out of the crisis with a secret weapon, which is the mission orientation of Mahindra Satyam,” Mr. Mahindra said.

Praising the employees, he described them as unsung heroes as they stuck to the company even when it was sailing in rough weathers.
