Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) today said its premium hatchback i20 has crossed 2.5 lakh units sales milestone since its launch in December, 2008.

Of the 2.5 lakh i20 cars sold, over 92,000 units have been sold in the domestic market and nearly 1.68 lakh (rpt) lakh units were exported to around 80 countries, the company said in a statement.

HMIL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer H W Park said in less than two years since its launch, the i20 has become a popular car in the premium hatchback segment.

“To value add further and make it even more attractive and convenient, we are now introducing the high-tech Audio Visual Navigation System,” Park added.

The two new variants — Era and Sportz — introduced in April this year have also received a phenomenal response, the company said.

The company has equipped the Asta variant of i20 with the cutting edge GPS-based audio visual navigation (AVN) system.

The option would be available only in the i20 Asta variants and with the AVN system would have the starting price at Rs 630,439 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
