Fiat on Friday unveiled its latest diesel variant of premium hatchback Grande Punto, equipped with 1.3 litre multi-jet engine. Priced at Rs. 6.79-lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the car is claimed to be India's most powerful diesel hatchback delivering 93 PS power, besides providing fuel efficiency of 20 km a litre.
“Through this new variant, discerning consumers will be given the perfect opportunity to enjoy both high power and a fun-to-drive experience. It will help consolidate our position within the ‘performance diesel' segment,” Fiat India President and CEO Rajeev Kapoor told journalists here. The new variant comes equipped with dual stage airbags, ABS with EBD, automatic climate control and integrated CD/MP3 player with USB.
The booking of new Grande Punto will start from July 18 and available through 175 Tata-Fiat dealers across 130 cities.
Fiat now expands the Grande Punto range to 10 variants with a choice of 1.2 and 1.4 litre petrol engines and 1.3 litre multi-jet (76 hp) and (93 hp) diesel engines. The company, which has a 50-50 joint venture with Tata Motors, has a production facility at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra. The facility can produce two lakh cars and three lakh engines a year.
