The All India Manufacturers’ Organisation (AIMO) has demanded that political parties include uniform pricing across the country as part of their election manifesto.

“Uniformity in pricing is the need of the hour when one tax, one nation system has already been brought in,” said K.E. Raghunathan, national president, AIMO. “This should be extended to power tariff, toll charges, fuel charges and education fees structure.”

He also urged States to adopt uniformity in tax structure to help MSMEs achieve competitiveness.

According to AIMO data, the sectors that require immediate revival or reconstruction are real estate, construction, match industries, printing, textiles, start-ups, tanneries, automobiles, power, stone, plastic, consumer products, service industry and infrastructure development.

“We should have a policy that encourages start-ups till they establish themselves. All start-ups should be exempted from payments of ESI/PF contribution, GST (both input and output) and IT for the first five years,” the AIMO said.
