Karnataka-based aerospace start-up Aequs Aerospace has acquired US-based T&K Machine, a company that makes aircraft parts for global aerospace firms like Boeing, Spirit AeroSystems and UTC Aerospace Systems.
The acquisition will help Aequs to expand its manufacturing in the US market for the first time.
“Aequs is committed to being an agile and reliable global supplier for our customers and in line with this, we have become the first Indian aerospace manufacturer to expand into North America,” said Aravind Melligeri, chief executive of Aequs. He declined to reveal the financial details of the transactions.
T&K Machine, Inc will now be renamed as Aequs Aero Machine, Inc. Melligeri said in addition to 65 skilled machinists and technicians, the T&K facility houses 28 computerised machining centers and assembly capabilities necessary to serve the global aerospace market.
Melligeri, co-founder of engineering services firm QuEST Global launched Aequs last year as spin-off of QuEST. It specialises in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication as well as assembly and forging for industries such as aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas industries. In February, Aequs acquired Bengaluru-based Simulation Designs, which makes high-precision components for spacecraft and satellites for Rs 6 crore.
