Tata Motors has set up a new business vertical for electric mobility to capture opportunities arising out of new commuting trends, the company has said.

“Creation of this new business vertical will enable Tata Motors to deliver on its aspiration of providing innovative and competitive e-mobility solutions,” the company said in a statement.

Bringing focus

To bring organisational focus and alignment, Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Shailesh Chandra to lead the Electric Mobility Business in addition to his current responsibility.

He has been promoted as president — electric mobility business and corporate strategy, with immediate effect and will continue to be a member of the executive committee. “Tata Motors is optimistic about the future of electric vehicles and would play a leading role in the electric mobility evolution in the country. We will also leverage on the capabilities of other Tata Group companies to develop the full ecosystem and fast track the adoption of e-mobility,” Guenter Butschek, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Motors, said in a statement.

Mr. Chandra has played an instrumental role in leading project teams to deliver 250 electric cars in Phase 1 to State-run EESL, which has placed orders with Tata Motors for more than 5,000 electric vehicles.

Tata Motors said it would work in a collaborative manner to facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles.
