Mahindra unveils refreshed XUV 500

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has introduced a refreshed version of its flagship Sport Utility Vehicle XUV 500 with a target to achieve 25% monthly sales growth of this vehicle that was first unveiled in 2011.

Called 'The Plush New XUV 500', the refreshed version has been unveiled at a starting price of ₹12.32 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai, for W5 variant).

So far, over 2,32,000 XUV 500s have been sold in seven years. Currently, Mahindra sells around 2,000 XUVs per month and this number will rise by 25% after the introduction of the latest version, Rajan Wadhera, president, Automotive Sector, M&M said.

“The XUV 500 was the creator of the premium SUV segment in the ₹12 to ₹18 lakh price range in India and continues to be the front runner in this segment when it comes to setting new trends and pushing new boundaries,” Mr. Wadhera said.

“Today, with the introduction of The Plush New XUV 500, we have strengthened its value proposition further by creating new benchmarks in luxury and styling,” he said.

He said the vehicle that comes with bold new design, more luxurious interiors, a powerful engine and best in class hi-tech features has been designed to meet the customer’s rising aspirations for premium and luxurious products.

The top most an automatic variant is priced at ₹18.98 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
