Jet Airways on Monday said its maiden service under the regional connectivity scheme would begin on June 14 on the Lucknow-Allahabad-Patna route.

On June 15, the airline will commence operations between New Delhi and Nashik, and a day later also start flights on the Nagpur-Allahabad-Indore sector.

All these flights will operate thrice-a-week mainly with the smaller ATR turboprop aircraft. Jet’s ATR fleet includes 15 ATR 72-500 planes, each capable of seating either 66 or 72 people in a single economy class configuration.

The airline was awarded four routes during the second phase of bidding under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, which aims at taking flying to the masses with airfares capped at ₹2,500 per hour of flight as well as enhancing connectivity to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Jet Airways will be the sixth airline operator to start operations under the government’s programme after Alliance Air, SpiceJet, IndiGo, Air Deccan and Air Odisha.
