Google India on Monday said it will kick of its three day long online shopping festival - Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) - from December 11. The shopping carnival will see participation from about 241 e-commerce players, including Flipkart, Myntra, Homeshop18, Amazon India, Jabong and Snapdeal, among other.
“GOSF is India's version of Cyber Monday in the west and is an exciting platform to raise awareness and consumer adoption of online shopping in India.” Google India, VP & Managing Director, Rajan Anandan said.
During the second edition of GOSF, sellers will be offering discounts ranging from 20 per cent up to 80 per cent on footwear, imported cars, property deals, holiday packages, insurance, spa packages, event tickets, grocery coupons, books, jewellery, watches and electronics.
Industry estimates suggests there are close to 20 million online shoppers in India and it is estimated to grow to 50 million in next few years, making it a 16-billion dollar industry.
"In the last edition of GOSF, most players saw over 350 per cent growth in their daily sales. The festival saw participation from all over India with 50 per cent buyers making a online purchase for the first time," Google India, Industry Director eCommerce, Nitin Bawankule said.
