Adlabs Imagica, a theme park developed on the lines of Disneyland and Universal Studios, has opened to the public. Developed by Adlabs Entertainment Ltd., the theme park offers a mix of story play and live experiences to draw tourists from the hinterland as well as from across the country, the company said.
Spread over 100 acres at Khapoli, between Mumbai and Pune, the first phase of Adlabs Imagica has come up with an investment of Rs.1,200 crore. Inclusive of a water park, which will be commissioned by this year-end, the project cost of this phase has been estimated at Rs.1,650 crore.
The promoters have funded one-third of the project cost. A 350-room hotel is also coming up at the project site.
“After selling my company (to the Reliance Group), I wanted to do something. I could have used that money to set up a cement plant . But I wanted to do something unique in the entertainment domain, and decided on this theme park,” Manmohan Shetty, Chairman, told The Hindu .
Adlabs Imagica expects 20-30 lakh visitors a year, and the project has a payback period of seven years.
A family of four will typically spend about Rs.10,000 per visit, according to the company.
Ticket prices
Ticket prices on weekdays is Rs.1,200 for adults and Rs.900 for children. On weekends and holidays, an adult would pay Rs.1,500 while it would be Rs.1,200 for a child.
The park has the capacity to accommodate over 10,000 visitors and currently employs over 2,000 people.
