Young Spine Surgeon Dr. Fazal Rehman makes India proud

New Delhi (India), December 26: Indian doctor Dr. Fazal Rehman made history by achieving a Stellar Performance at the MRCS (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons) Part A International exam. Dr. Fazal, an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, was awarded the Prestigious Hallett Medal and the Intercollegiate Prize for Securing the Highest Score in the World for the MRCS (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England) Part A exam held in January 2020. The announcement of the global awards came as a moment of national pride for India.

On November 8, 2022, the President of the Royal College of Surgeons England presented the award to Dr. Fazal Rehman at the Prestigious Diplomate’s Ceremony in London. Dr. Fazal is also the first Indian to receive this prestigious award. This young doctor won this Global Award of Excellence after competing with medical professionals worldwide.

The Hallett Medal is named after Sir Frederick Greville Hallett, and was established by the Royal College of Surgeons in England to honour his legacy and is presented to the candidate who obtains the highest marks and demonstrates excellent performance in the International MRCS Exam.

The brilliant and multitalented Dr. Fazal was born and raised in the Malappuram region of Kerala, India. He received his MBBS degree from the prestigious Government Medical College, Calicut and went on to pursue a postgraduate degree in Orthopaedic Surgery from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. He later obtained a degree in DNB Orthopaedics from NBE, India. He is pursuing his FNB in Spine Surgery at the world-renowned ‘Indian Spinal Injuries Centre’ in Delhi. Dr. Fazal is the son of Dr. Abdu Rahiman (Father) & Dr Mumtaz Rahiman (Mother). He is married to Rasha Parveen, a Chartered Accountant.

Dr. Fazal aims to encourage all young doctors in India to compete in international arenas and strive for academic excellence in surgery. “Indian doctors have got enormous potential. The level of research, work experience and learning levels here in India is undoubtedly of high standards and are unmatched by any other country in the world”. Besides being a Highly Skilled and Excellent Spine surgeon, Dr. Fazal has been honoured with the Prestigious Gold medal Award for his outstanding performance in the MS orthopedics exam instituted by The President, Karnataka State Medical Alumni Association to honour his 1st rank position in the same exam. He has also aced various other national examinations with great proficiency. This accomplished young spine surgeon aspires to serve his home country.
