With the recent crisis around Aircel’s operations and the ensuing connectivity issues and call drops, a lot of Aircel users have been trying to port their mobile numbers since they have been facing a harrowing time with their current network.

To enable Aircel users to make a hassle-free transition from their network, Aircel has provided easy IVRS based options for mobile number porting.

Generating UPC Code Through IVR

Users would need to have their Aircel SIM card in front of them and follow the steps mentioned below from any number:

Step 1: Dial 9841012345 for Chennai Circle and 9842012345 for Rest of Tamil Nadu

Step 2: Select Language

Step 3: Select Aircel Customer and enter Aircel Mobile Number

Step 4: Select get UPC Code

Step 5: Enter last 5 digits of the Aircel SIM number

Step 6: Note down the Aircel UPC code

Having obtained the Aircel UPC Code, users can visit any Airtel retailer near them and easily port their Aircel number to Airtel. For faster activation, user can:

Step 1: Dial 59059 IVR for tele verification

Step 2: Enter the last 4 digits of Voter ID/Passport followed by the year of birth in YYYY format.

Alternatively, Aircel users can also follow the process below to port their numbers to Airtel:

Step 1: Send an SMS to 1900 with PORT XXXXXXXXXX (PORT Space Your Aircel Number), to get a confirmation from Aircel with a Unique Porting Code (UPC).

Step 2: Having obtained the Aircel UPC, users can visit any Airtel retailer with KYC documents and get a new Airtel SIM card.

Once the Aircel network disappears on the SIM, user can insert the Airtel SIM card provided by the retailer. This SIM will work in the mobile only after the porting is completed. The Aircel UPC is valid for 15 days and it generally takes between 5 – 8 days for the porting to complete.

On seeing the signal bars, users will have one final step to complete, which is dialing 59059 for their tele-verification. On completing the verification, the Airtel SIM card will become fully functional and users will retain their existing mobile number.
