The Ruling Princes and Chiefs assembled at Delhi gave a brilliant banquet to-night [November 8] in honour of the Maharaja of Bikaner, Sir James Meston, Sir S.P. Sinha. Covers were laid for three hundred and forty four guests including all high officials and their families, also H.E. the Commander-in-Chief. After the Viceroy had given loyal toast, Jam Sahib of Navanagar said the function set the zeal of their unanimous approval of the magnificent service rendered by the distinguished guests under the circumstances of singular novelty, delicacy and seriousness. He alluded to the declaration of the new policy and welcomed Mr. Montagu and announced that three souvenir gold cups would be presented to the guests. Maharaja of Gwalior, in giving the toast to the Viceroy alluded to the gracious presence of Lady Chelmsford and dwelt at length on the Chiefs Conference which represented their psychology and ambitions, their difficulties and their hopes. He paid a tribute to Maharaja of Bikaner who at the Imperial Conference had upheld the traditions of their order and justified the selection and urged their greater use in the interest of the Empire.
