CG releases socio-economic and caste census

Jaitley said the data will help give a comprehensive idea to the state and central governments in tackling poverty.

Central Government released its Socio-Economic and Caste Census on Friday, which aims to identify the root causes of poverty and eradicate it. The data, along with a new website, was released by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Rural Development Minister Birender Singh in New Delhi. Addressing a news conference, Singh said the government now had regionally reliable data for rural households through the SECC. He added that the government would rank households through the data collected.
