Yogit emerges the sole leader

: Yogit of Maharishi Vidya Mandir became the sole leader with 8.5 points at the end of the ninth and penultimate round of the Modern School fifth FIDE-rated chess tournament here on Friday. B. Kumaran of Shankara School is second with 8 points.

Yogit stunned higher-seeded Akash Iyer to grab the lead. Overnight leader Kumaran was held to a draw by Vasantha Ruba Varman.
