Sebastian Vettel edged out Red Bull teammate Mark Webber to drive the quickest lap during the third practice session for the German Grand Prix, the last before qualifying in the afternoon Saturday.

The defending Formula One champion from Germany, seeking his first win at home, posted a time of 1 minute, 30.916 seconds around the 5.1—kilometer (3.2—mile) Nuerburgring circuit, under dark clouds.

The latest weather forecast predicts an 84 percent chance of rain for the start of the 60—lap race on Sunday.

Third was Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who won his first race of the season at the British GP in Silverstone two weeks ago, followed by the two McLaren drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
