Top-seeded Snehal Mane marched into the girls’ singles final of the adidas-TTT National sub-junior (under-14) tennis championship with a 6-3, 6-3 win over R. Sai Avanthika here on Friday. She will meet G.S. Vasavi, who overcame second-seeded Ramya Natrajan 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-2.
The first set proved easy for Snehal as she took it 6-3 in quick time.
When she went 3-0 up in the second against a visibly tired Avanthika, a totally one-sided affair seemed in the offing. But, the latter reeled off three consecutive games and was on the verge of going ahead 4-3.
However, the top seed gathered her composure and broke Avanthika’s serve twice and finished off the match with a down-the-line backhand winner.
Earlier in the day, Vikash Singh and Mrityunjay Badola won the boys’ doubles title after defeating Siddhanth Banthia and Parikshith Somani 6-4, 6-2.
