Serena Williams of the United States stayed just top of the women’s tennis rankings, while Dubai Open winner Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic moved up a place to seventh in the list released on Monday by the WTA.
Williams has a slender 40-point lead over Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, after both withdrew with injuries from last week’s Dubai Open.
Kvitova swaps places in the top 10 with Italy’s Sara Errani, whom she defeated in Saturday’s final of the Dubai Open.
