Indian boys surrender to U.S.

The Indian boys failed to win a set as they went down 0-3 to the seventh-seeded U.S. in the second league match of group ‘D’ in the World Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament at San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on Wednesday.

It was the second defeat for the Indian team, after its loss to the Czech Republic on the opening day. India will aspire for a better fare in its meeting against Chile in the last league match.

The U.S. and Czech Republic confirmed their qualification for the quarterfinals from the group with two wins each and were scheduled to play each other to decide the group topper.

The Indian team powered by Yuki Bhambri had finished No. 4 in the world last year.

The results: U.S. beat India 3-0 (Marcos Giron bt Mohit Mayur 6-4, 6-2; Bjorn Fratangelo bt Saurabh Singh 6-2, 6-1; Marcos Giron and Bjorn Fratangelo bt Sai Kartik and Saurabh Singh 7-5, 6-3).
