French Open junior wild-card tournament

Eight of the top 16 boys in the country will compete in the French Open junior wild-card event to be played on the clay-courts of the DLTA Complex here from April 25 to 27.

The field is topped by Siddhant Banthia and Sacchitt Sharma, both of whom had won the UK under-14 title on the grass-courts of Wimbledon.

Abhiimanyu Vannem Reddy who won the final qualifying event between players of different countries in Paris, to earn the French Open wild card last year, will also be competing.

The field in the girls section is scheduled to be headed by Vaidehi Chaudhari in the absence of Akanksha Bhan. National champion Mahak Jain opted to skip the event owing to other commitments.

Competition will be on a knock-out format, and the champion boy and girl will make it to Paris for the international event.

Boys: Siddhant Banthia, Sacchitt Sharma, Abhimanyu Vannem Reddy, Calvinn Golmei, Dev Javia, Mann Maulik Shah, Arjun Honnappa, V.M. Sandeep. Reserves: Nikit Reddy, Madhwinn Kamath, Suresh Dhakshineswar.

Girls: Vaidehi Chaudhari, Kaavya Sawhney, Prinkle Singh, Shivani Amineni, Tanisha Kashyap, Rashmikaa Shrivalli, Yubarani Banerjee, Sravya Shivani. Reserves: Shivani Ingle, Mubashira Anjum Shaik, Himaanshika .
