Former number one Roger Federer moved back into second place of the tennis rankings issued by the ATP on Monday after making it to the Masters final in Shanghai on the weekend.
Although the Swiss was beaten in the title match by Andy Murray, who remains in fourth place in the rankings, Federer did enough to overtake Novak Djokovic, whom he knocked out in Shanghai.
At the top Rafael Nadal, who was beaten by Austrian Juergen Melzer in the third round in Shanghai, continues to lead by more than 4,000 points.
