20:59: Djokovic holds to love. Djokovic leads 4-3. Can you sense a break here? Or will we see a tie-breaker? I'm going with a tie-breaker.

20:56: 3-3 in the fourth set. Djokovic leading two sets to one. We are nearly two and a half hours into the match and both players still running around the court tirelessly like it is the first game of the match! What supreme athletes!

20:51: Djokovic holds. 3-2 up. Nadal could have had the break there, it was 30-30. But Djokovic takes the attacking option, with a deep approach shot, coming to the net, and forcing Nadal to hit the ball into the net.

20:47: Nadal ties it at 2-2. Looks like this match could go the distance. Pulsating stuff. But Djokovic not looking the player he was in the first two sets. And by jove, is Nadal taking advantage of it!

20:42: Nadal breaks! Too many unforced errors from Djokovic and a huge slice of luck helps Nadal win the game. On break point, Nadal's backhand slice clips the top of the net and drops dead on Djokovic's court. We're back on serve at 2-1, Djokovic leading.

20:38: Djokovic with the break! Djokovic leads 2-0. Dramatic turn of events once again! Nadal seemed like he had the momentum going into the fourth set, but Djokovic pulls ahead once again.

20:34: Djokovic survives a scare. Nadal had a break point but somehow Djokovic manages to hold. Nadal turning the screws here, can Djokovic ride the storm? Djokovic 1-0 up.

What a match we've had so far. Tennis of the highest quality. The ever gritty Nadal somehow finds a way to claw back.

20:25: Nadal wins the set 6-1! With ease. Unbelievable stuff here, you'd have never guessed that Nadal could pull a set back with the form Djokovic was in! But Nadal has stuck to his task, sticking on to win the set.

20:23: Nadal breaks again to lead 5-1. Smiles in the Nadal box.

20:16 A momentum change? Nadal consolidates his position to go 4-1 up in the third set.

20:13: Finally Djokovic is on the board. Nadal up 3-1. Easy hold for Djokovic who is desperate to get the momentum back.

20:08: Nadal holds to love. He goes up 3-0. Nadal the aggressor, Djokovic on the backfoot now. Oh my, how fortunes have changed! Djokovic looked like he had the match in the bag not more than half an hour ago, but Nadal back in this.

20:06: Nadal with his first break of the match! He leads 2-0. Now we have a match on! After a pretty one-sided second set, Nadal comes roaring back to get the break. Count on Nadal not to slink away without a fight!

20:00: Nadal restores some semblance of normalcy by holding serve in the first game of the third set. Nadal up 1-0. Make no mistake, if ever there is a man who can come back to win from two sets down, it is Nadal. Fighter to the core. But can he do it against a rampaging Djokovic?

19:55: Djokovic with the second set 6-1!He goes two sets ahead now. Pure domination from Djokovic here. Holds serve, easy as you like. Nadal is playing against a man possessed!

19:52: Djokovic with the break to go ahead 5-1. My my, is this man even human? Who is the last man to have Nadal on the ropes like this? Djokovic employing the drop shot, drawing Nadal to the net, and then hitting the lob to win the point. All that Djokovic touches turns to gold!

19:47: Djokovic makes it 4-1. This second set running away from Nadal, he needs something magical to get back into the set, and indeed the match! Djokovic with some sublime tennis.

Djokovic staying ahead by keeping all his strokes deep in the Nadal baseline, cramping Nadal for room, and not allowing him to hit through for the winners.

19:43: Nadal holds to make it 1-3. Djokovic had a chance to 4-0 up when he needed to put away a Nadal lob. But Djokovic tries a bit too much and misses the sideline. Nadal then gets a ricochet off the net which stuns Djokovic, who is at the net. Djokovic misses the volley completely and Nadal wins the game.

I must say that Nadal is almost on top of his game too, but Djokovic just stealing the show with some magnificent tennis. Running down everything on offer, producing winners when he looks down and out in the point.

19:39: Djokovic up 3-0. What a fantastic, entertaining game. Nadal giving it all and sending Djokovic running to all corners of the court. But Djokovic is equal to the task, producing winners from the most absurd positions. Djokovic putting on a show, Nadal being outplayed here.

19:35 Fantastic point to have the early break of serve. At 15-40, Nadal digs out one of his serves which is handled unconvincingly by Djokovic. The Spaniard opts to play a cross-court drop shot but Djokovic is onto it in a flash and sends it past Nadal for 2-0 lead.

19:30 A lucky net chord gives Nadal a look in at 0-30 but Djokovic, who has been attacking the Nadal forehand through out the game, used the same tactic to escape from the pickle unscathed. 1-0 Djokovic.

Lose or win sets, Nadal will still go through his elaborate adjustments before getting on with it. Djokovic will open proceedings in the second set.

19:23: Djokovic wins the first set 6-4! Can you believe it! Nadal was up 30-0 in the game and Djokovic wins four straight points to pocket the game and the set. A combination of forehand winners from Djokovic and unforced errors from Nadal does the trick for the Serb.

19:17: Djokovic with his third ace, served wide, wrapping up the game. Djokovic up 5-4. Nadal will now serve to stay in the set. Physical match, long exchanges. Both Nadal and Djokovic are supreme athletes, so they will be comfortable in this style of play.

19:13: Nadal holds as well and we're tied up at 4-4 . Djokovic trying to mix it up a bit with the drop shot at 40-15, but catches the net. Tough to get the drop shot right against the sliced backhand.

19:10: Djokovic up 4-3. An absolutely dead even contest so far. First set on serve, who will get the first break to push ahead?

19:05: 23 minutes into the first set and Nadal evens it up at 3-3. Nadal surprising Djokovic with the serve and volley, the first time either player has come to the net.

18:59: Djokovic holds serve to love. Djokovic leading 3-2. Short game, Djokovic forcing Nadal into errors.

18:57: All even at 2-2.

18:55: Can only imagine the physical toll this match will take on both players if it goes into a fifth set. Huge amount of running and retrieving being done by Nadal and Djokovic. Making me tired, and I'm just watching.

18:53: Djokovic holds serve, he is up 2-1. Great angles from both players, especially Djokovic, whose cross court forehand sends Nadal scurrying beyond the doubles sideline, forcing him into an error.

18:50: This looks like a match of patience. Both players keen on keeping the rally going and waiting for the opponent to make the error.

18:48: Nadal evens it up at 1-1. We're already seeing some cleanly struck backhands from both players. High quality tennis here.

18:45: Expect some long and hard fought rallies in this match. Neither player too keen on the volleys.

18:44: Djokovic wins the first game of the match, holds serve. 1-0 up. Two fantastic down the line forehand winners from Nadal takes it to 30-30 at one stage, but Djokovic holds on.

18:38: Golfer Rory Mcilroy, who won the US Open recently, watches on from the stands. Quite a few celebrities at the stadium today. Big occasion.

18:37: Players going through their warm-up routines.

18:36: Nadal in fine form too, losing just three sets on his way to the finals. Nadal is on a 20-match unbeaten streak in Wimbledon.

18:33: So we have the top seed Rafael Nadal, facing the second seed Novak Djokovic. As of tomorrow morning though, Djokovic will take the top spot in the world rankings while Nadal will be pushed to second spot.

18:30: Interesting match up ahead, two players whose style is pretty similar. Both like to fight from the baseline, both retrieve the most impossible shots, both effort players.

18:30: As usual, Nadal makes his opponent wait as Djokovic is on the court, ready for the toss. Nadal has come in for some flak for making opponents wait in between games etc.

18:28: Former greats Bjorn Borg and John Newcombe in the stands.

18:26: And the two players walk on to the court to a thunderous applause from the crowd.

This is Nadal's fifth Wimbledon final appearance, while Djokovic is set for his first. Note that Djokovic is in red hot form this year, losing just one of 50 matches he has played. That solitary loss was at the Frech Open at the hands of a certain Roger Federer.

And finally, we're here. Wimbledon men's final. The new World No.1 Novak Djokovic against the two-time champ Rafael Nadal. The top two seeds facing off in what should be an epic contest.
