ATP Challenger: Smooth sailing for Yuki Bhambri

Sixth seed Yuki Bhambri sailed past Brydan Klein of Britian 6-3, 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $50,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Lexington, Kentucky. In the quarterfinals, Yuki will challenge fourth seed Bjorn Fratangelo of US, who rallied to beat compatriot Dennis Novikov 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-1.

Ramkumar Ramanathan partnering John Millmann of Australia beat second seeds Ruben Gonzales of Philippines and Darren Walsh of Britain 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 in the doubles quarterfinals.

The results: $50,000 Challenger men, Lexington: Singles (pre-quarterfinals): Yukki Bhambri bt Brydan Klein (GBr) 6-3, 6-2.

Doubles (quarterfinals): Dmitar Kutrovsky (Bul) & Saketh Myneni bt Sekou Bangoura (US) & Frank Dancevic (Can) 6-2, 6-0; John Millman (Aus) & Ramkumar Ramanathan bt Ruben Gonzales (Phi) & Darren Walsh (GBr) 3-6, 7-5, 10-5.

$10,000 ITF men, Xativa: Doubles (semifinals): Neeraj Elangovan & Niki Poonacha bt Eduard Esteve Lobato & Pedro Martinez Portero (Esp) 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.

$10,000 ITF women, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt: Doubles (quarterfinals): Kseniia Bekker & Elina Nepliy (Rus) bt Kateryna Sliusar (Ukr) & Dhruthi Venugopal 6-4, 7-5.

ITF juniors, grade-2, Oberentfelden, Switzerland: Girls (first round): Elena De Santis (Ita) bt Kaaviya Balasubramanian 6-3, 6-2.
