L. Suryapprakash (136, 237b, 21x4) and Vijay Shankar (123, 248b, 14x4, 2x6) ensured Grand Slam dominated TI Cycles in a seventh-round TNCA first-division league game at Murugappa.

The second-wicket pair resumed their partnership on Thursday and extended it to 281 before being separated. Thanks to their efforts, Grand Slam declared on 441 for six before reducing TI to 94 for four.

In other action, wicketkeeper-batsman R. Rohith (142, 362b, 14x4, 1x6) brought up his first century of the season for Vijay at Guru Nanak and M.R. Muthupandi made an unbeaten 98-ball 100 with nine fours and four sixes, as IOB pressed for a first-innings declaration at Vivekananda. Off-spinners A.C. Prathiban (six for 88) and Malolan Rangarajan (five for 83) shone, but their teams, India Pistons and Young Stars respectively, struggled.

Rovers led by 208 after Pistons collapsed while Young Stars conceded a 60-run first-innings lead to Alwarpet.

Trotters was able to take advantage of the other bowling performance of the day, off-spinner Prashant Chandran’s five for 39, as it set Indian Bank a target of 360.
