Want to rectify mistakes, if any: IABF

December 08, 2012 11:35 pm | Updated December 04, 2021 10:54 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

After replying to the letter of suspension from the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) seemed ready to follow the apex body’s diktat.

According to IABF president Abhishek Matoria on Saturday, former secretary-general Brig. P.K. Muralidharan Raja, who was at Yerevan as part of the Indian contingent at the World Youth championship, spoke to the AIBA top brass about the Indian body’s suspension.

Brig. Raja, according to Matoria, tried to figure out the specific objections the AIBA had regarding the IABF elections and its possible link to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) elections, which led to the suspension by the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC).

“We want to know about the mistakes we have committed. We want to rectify those. We are ready to do whatever the AIBA says.

"If they tell us to hold fresh elections, we are ready to do it at the earliest possible date,” said Matoria.

“We do not want the sport and our boxers to suffer because of the suspension,” Matoria added.
