Chennai’s Vishnu Prasad dusted off a shaky performance in the FLGB4 class to finish on top in the premium event of the day, the JK FBO2, in the opening round of the 17th JK Tyre racing championship here on Saturday.

Despite the commanding victory, Vishnu was not a happy man. “It could have been better. I did some silly mistakes but the sizeable lead that I enjoyed at the start helped me through the race.”

Akhil Rabindra of Karnataka was pleased as well with his show. He finished third in line but was elevated to the second place as Krishnaraj Mahadik, who initially finished second, was served a 30-second penalty for the jump start. Ananth Shanmugam and Rahil Noorani, likewise, were also penalised for the jump starts.

In the race for FLGB4 cars, it was Kerala's T.S. Diljith all the way. He enjoyed a great start and capitalised it well and all the way to the finish line.

Karminder Pal Singh (Delhi) and Angad Singh Matharoo (Punjab) finished one-two in the JK Volkswagen Polo R Cup.

The results (provisional): Race 1: FLGB04: 1. T.S. Diljith (Dark Don Racing) 18:38.073; 2. Sudarshana Rao (Dark Don Racing); 3. Raghul Rangaswamy (Meco Racing).

JK VW Polo R Cup: 1. Angad Singh Matharoo (Punjab); 2. Anshul Manoj Shah (Maharashtra); 3. Lee Keshav Gupta. JK FBO2: 1. Vishnu Prasad (Chennai) 16:44.861; 2. Akhil Rabindra (Karnataka); 3. Nayan Chatterjee (Maharashtra). — Special Correspondent
