The Hero Indian Super League will hold a three-day central domestic player pool draft, from July 21 to 23. The first day will see the league deciding the club sequence for the draft via lot pick. The next two days will see club representatives choosing players through 14 rounds of draft pick.
The draft will be conducted in Indian rupees. Each of eight city clubs featuring in the inaugural HISL can have a minimum 22-players squad (14 domestic players, one marquee signing and seven internationals).
According to a media release from IMG-R, co-promoters of the league with Star India, the central pool will have 39 senior internationals, among whom 22 played for India in the last two years.
North-East United FC (Guwahati) and Team Goa retained their 14 players from I-League clubs Shillong Lajong FC and Dempo SC respectively, so will not be active in player selection during the draft.
