For the 12th year in succession, St.Joseph’s College of Engineering, annexed the Champion of Champions Trophy in the Anna University Sports Board competitions last year. As many as 30,000 men and 5000 women took part in the competitions from over 250 institutions in 19 zones.
St. Joseph’s, which won the zone III championships with an aggregate of 640 points went on to take the overall prize with a tally of 460 points followed by Pavai Engineering, Namakkal, with 310 points.
Presiding over the awards function, Dr. M. Rajaram, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, congratulated the medal winners-Anna University cornered 16 gold medals in the all-India inter-university competitions- and underlined the importance accorded to sport in the university.
Babu Manoharan, MD, St. Joseph’s Group, received the Champion of Champions Trophy from the Vice Chancellor along with the champion athletes of the college. St. Joseph’s contributed 48 competitors (23 men and 25 women) to the inter university championships last season.
