Ross Brawn says Mercedes becoming stronger

Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn believes the team’s good start into the season is an indication that they are well on their way.

“The team is becoming stronger, working better all the time,” Brawn told DPA in an interview ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix in Silverstone.

“Last year was a step in the wrong direction, this year we are heading in the right direction,” Brawn said.

After just seven races this season, Mercedes has 134 points — just eight shy of their total from the 20 races last year. “That is definitely a huge step forwards,” Brawn said.

Brawn is very satisfied with the team’s drivers (Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton). “We have one of the best, if not the best teams in Formula One.”

The Briton is, however, worried that the ban on a three-day young driver test the controlling body FIA slapped on the team over a controversial tyre test last month, would have a negative effect on the team in the second-half of the season.
