Peter & Lea continue to dominate

October 05, 2013 12:37 am | Updated 12:37 am IST - Chennai:

Better weather conditions prevailed on day three of the Raymond India International Regatta in the Bay of Bengal, off Chennai Harbour, here on Friday. The wind speed was between two and nine knots. For a good part, the wind moved in only one direction, complementing sailing.

As many as three races were held in 29er class, and two each in the Optimist and the Laser 4.7 categories.

Slovenian siblings Peter Lin Janezic and Lea Dora Janezic continued to dominate in the 29er class. There was plenty to cheer for India in the Laser 4.7 section with Upanmanyu Dutta, Janaki Balachander and Dheer Singhi winning a race each; Dheer Singhi is ahead overall.

And the Malaysians, led by Mohammad Dhiauddin Bin Rozain, called the shots in the Optimist section.

Peter Lin and Lea Dora won two of the three races in 29er on day three.

New Zealanders Markus and Isaac won a race and finished second in the other two to overtake the Indian pair of Ganapathy and Varun to get to the second position overall. The talented Indian pair, though, is only two points behind.

The only all-girl pair in this category, India’s Varsha Gautam and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan, had two podium finishes and, creditably, is placed fourth overall.
