OGQ to support Sushil Kumar

Wrestler Sushil Kumar will be supported by the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) until Rio 2016. He has won the 66kg freestyle bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics and silver at the London Olympics. He will also be the special advisor to the OGQ Board and help it identify talented young wrestlers.

“OGQ has legends such as Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone at the helm and I am very honoured to be part of this team. My target is to win the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics and I know that I need to work twice as hard and carefully plan my training schedule for the next three years. This is where I would require OGQ’s support with special focus on physiotherapy and medical support,’’ Sushil Kumar said.

He is hopeful of wrestling being reinstated in the 2020 Games. “It will be a huge loss to India if wrestling is not included in the 2020 Olympics because our wrestlers have started to perform well now. We have created history by becoming the champions in Asia in seniors as well as juniors. We can even become the cadet group champions. The mindset of youngsters is changing,” he said.
