Top seed Parimarjan Negi warmed up for the upcoming World Open by winning the D. C. International chess title, scoring 7.5 points from nine rounds at Arlington (USA) on Monday.

An unbeaten Negi finished his campaign with a victory over USA’s International Master Justin Sarkar and collected $2,000.

Another Indian Grandmaster P. Magesh Chandran finished sixth, with six points.

The five-day schedule of the World Open, with a guaranteed minimum prize-fund of $175,000, will commence at the same venue on Wednesday.
