NBA star Bruce Bowen to visit India

NBA star Bruce Bowen will be in India this month to conduct basketball clinics for players and coaches, apart from a promotional tour, as part of NBA Jam and Reliance Foundation Junior NBA programme.

The three-time NBA champion with San Antonio Spurs will be present in Kolkata, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Ludhiana from October 31-November 6.

Bowen, chosen in the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times (2004-2008), will be in Kolkata from Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at St Xavier’s College as part of NBA Jam. His next stops are Gurgaon (Nov. 2), Chandigarh (Nov. 4), Ludhiana (Nov. 5-6) during the Reliance Foundation Junior NBA Finals.

Talking about the visit, he said: “I understand that the popularity of basketball is growing rapidly in India. More and more children are picking up the game. I cannot wait to experience this for myself and help train and interact with the promising young talent the country has to offer.”
