National Games: Smit strikes double gold

Smit Singh of Punjab kept his cool in the final station to clinch the men’s skeet gold in the shot gun events of the 35th National Games at the Police Academy Range here on Sunday. He later guided his team, consisting of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Karam Sukhbir Singh, for the gold and a sweet double.

The results: Men: Skeet Individual: 1. Smit Singh (Pun); 2. Mairaj Ahmad Khan (UP); 3. Angad Vir Singh Bajwa (Pun). Team: 1. Punjab 329 (Angad Vir Singh Bajwa 112, Smit Singh 112, Karam Sukhbir Singh 105); 2. Chattisgarh 327 (Parampal Singh Guron 117, Rajpal Singh Kochhar 109, Mohd. Hamza Sheik 101); 3. SSCB 320 (Gagan Kumar 110, Yogesh Kumar 106, Rabin Biswakarma 101).
