Mayuresh’s family to receive assistance

The Kerala Government and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will jointly provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to the family of Mayuresh Pawar, the Maharashtra netball player who drowned at the Cherai beach during the 35th National Games.

Making this announcement in the presence of IOA president N. Ramachandran, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the Government and IOA would be contributing an equal sum of Rs. five lakh each to the family of the deceased player.

Further, a sum of Rs. three lakh from the insurance coverage made by the National Games organising committee would also be given to Mayuresh’s next of kin.
