ISTAF athletics meet: Wlodarczyk hammers a world record

Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland set a world record of 79.58 metres in women’s hammer throw at the ISTAF athletics meet on Sunday.

The European champion and Olympic silver medallist beat the previous record set by Germany’s Betty Heidler by 16 centimetres.

India’s Vikas Gowda was sixth in men’s discus with a best throw of 62.49m.

Men: 100m: Richard Thompson (Tri) 10.15s; 400m: Isaac Makwala (Bot) 45.11s; 800m: Mohammed Aman (Eth) 1m 43.52s; 1,500m: Mekonnen Gebremedhin (Eth) 3m 33.24s.
