Asian youth silver medallist Yashaswini finished seventh in junior women’s air pistol in the International Junior Cup shooting championship in Suhl, Germany, on Wednesday.

Yashaswini, who had clinched the Youth Olympics quota place ahead of National women’s champion Malaika Goel, qualified at the top with 381, but was unable to assert herself in a strong field in which five shooters qualified with 381 and two with 380.

A string of 8s and 9s put paid to Yashaswini’s hopes as she mustered 92.9 points from her first 10 shots in the final and was eliminated second, one point behind Mathilde Lamolle of France.
