Indian wrestlers hoping to do well at Asian Games

Indian wrestlers participating in the 54th National Wrestling championship are hoping to perform well at the forthcoming Asian Games.

The three-day wrestling event, which is being held at Motilal Nehru stadium here, was inaugurated on Friday.

G S Mander, President Of Indian Wrestling Association, said: “Immediately after commonwealth games there are Asian games on 10 December 2010. We are not only prepared for commonwealth games but also for Asian Games and after that for London Olympics also. "We performed well in Asian Championship. We also hope to perform well in Asian games too,” said G S Mander, President Of Indian Wrestling Association.” Many renowned wrestlers from across the country are participating in the championship. It is the first time that such a mega—wrestling event is held in Madhya Pradesh.

On the first day of the event, wrestlers from Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, India camp, SSCB and railways won gold medals.
