It was a good day at the office for Indian shuttlers as Saina Nehwal, P. Kashyap and P.V. Sindhu advanced to the second round of the $1 million Korea Open Super Series Premier here on Wednesday.
Saina, seeded third, came out on top in a tough 58-minute clash with Thailand’s Sapsiree Taerattanachai 17-21, 21-9, 21-19 to advance to the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the first and most expensive tournament of the season. Sindhu overcame her Indonesian opponent Lindaweni Fanetri 22-20, 21-16 in 42 minutes.
In men’s singles, riding on his recent triumph at Lucknow, Kashyap made short work of England’s Rajiv Ouseph, winning 21-19, 21-16 in 37 minutes. The results (first round):
