India’s Vishnu Saravanan won all the races on Saturday to win the overall title in the laser radial class as the India International Regatta came to an end at the Bay of Bengal. Sailing conditions were once again delightful with steady wind from the North East blowing at an average of 17-20 knots. The metre high waves made the course challenging.

In the 29er class, the results were predictable as Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan, after winning the first four races, sailed back to the shores without bothering to sail the final race as it could be discarded. This gave the other sailors a chance, an opportunity which was grabbed by the Swedish pair Hanna Hoije & Emma Fridolffson, who also won the overall silver in the class.

Provisional overall results (Indians unless otherwise mentioned):

29er: 1. Varsha Gautham & Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan, 2. Hanna Hoije & Emma Fridolfsson (Swe), 3. Pavan Verma & Navneet Vishwakarma; Laser 4.7: 1. Vishnu Sujeesh (10 points), 2. Christopher Bezy (Hkg) (21), 3. Shikhar Garg (27), Girls winner: Molly Highfield (Hkg); Laser radial: 1. Vishnu Saravanan (10), 2. Riley Cameron (Hkg) (15), 3. Nethra Kumanan (27), Girls: Nethra; Optimist: 1. Robbie McCutcheon (Nzl), 2. Aniketh Rajaram, 3. Naveen Kumaran, Girls winner: Ramya Saravanan.
