India’s Karun Chandhok and Jan Seyffarth of Seyffarth Motorsport Team finished 11th overall and seventh in the PRO category on his debut in the FIA GT Series Opener at Nogaro, France on Monday. Chandhok had finished sixth in the qualification race.
Heavy rain continued to dog the opening round with the morning warm-up session also hit. Despite the disappointment, Chandhok was optimistic of a strong season.
“It’s a shame that I got hit by (Frank) Stippler which cost us more than five places.
“He came and apologised but we lost the opportunity of a good finish. I was really struggling for grip in the early part of the race but we got more experience in the wet and we have some useful data about the tyres for the next time around,” he said. The next race will be held on April 21 at Zolder, Belgium.
