India’s leading squash player Joshna Chinappa on Monday said the game is not getting popular in the country because the funds are not reaching the deserving players.
“I don’t think there is dearth of government funds for popularising squash in the country, but it is necessary to ensure that the available fund reaches the deserving players. If that happens, I am sure the scenario will change,” Chinappa told reporters here.
She was in the city to coach budding squash players at Daly College. Joshna said it would be unfair to compare squash with tennis. “If like tennis, squash too is included in Olympics, then the game would attract new talent and sponsors,” she said.
