The proposed training plan of the Indian full bore shooting team in Bisley, London, from September 15 to 21, has to be shelved as four of the six shooters have not got the visa for United Kingdom.
“We tried our best. We waited for long. The authorities in Sports Ministry and the External Affairs Ministry also tried. It is sad that our plan could not succeed'', said the coach and manager of the squad, T. S. Dhillon.
The former Inspector General of CRPF, Dhillon said that he had already written to the authorities of the National Rifle Association (NRA) in London, thanking them for their cooperation in changing the dates thrice to accommodate the Indian request.
Now, the CRPF range in Kadarpur will be readied in the next few days and the Indian shooters will have their preparation at the venue once the rifles arrive by next week.
“The Sius-Ascor experts who install the computerised scoring system, are already tuning the targets. It will all be ready in the next couple of days. We will assemble the shooters for the preparatory camp even before the rifles arrive'', said Dhillon.
The two shooters who will represent the country are also expected to be announced shortly.
